Application for Confucius Institute Scholarship (2019):

Professional Development Program for Chinese Language Teachers in South Asian Countries

For the purpose of cultivating qualified Chinese language teachers and facilitating the promotion of Chinese language and culture, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) launches “Confucius Institute Scholarship” (CIS) to support outstanding students, scholars and currently employed Chinese language teachers recommended by Confucius Institutes, independently operation Confucius Classrooms as well as some HSK test centers to study in Chinese universities and colleges.


I. ELIGIBILITY

  • Non-Chinese citizens

  • In good physical and mental condition, well performed both academically and behaviorally.

  • Aspire to take Chinese language teaching and international Chinese promotion as a long-term career.

  • Applicants should be from 16 to 35 years old before Sep. 1th, 2019. In-service Chinese language teachers shall not exceed 45 years old and undergraduate students should be less than 25 years old.

 the program is organized and  applied for by a

Confucius Institute with 10-15

participants per group. Prior to the trip,a detailed study plan

shall be made in consultation with host institutions and such plan shall be submitted to

Hanban for approval.



 III. APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Online registration will be available from March 1, 2019 on the Confucius Institute Scholarship website (cis.chinese.cn).

 

01  Log In

Log into the website http://cis.chinese.cn and search recommendation institutions and Jiangxi University of Science and Technology.

 

02 Upload

Upload application materials online, track the application progress and feedback.


03 Confirm and Print

Scholarship winners need to confirm with the host institutions about the formalities needed for studying in China and print C IS certificate online.

 

04 Register

Register at JXUST on time as per the time stipulated in the admission notice.

 



IV. Application Deadlines

  • April 20th ---- For new comers starting courses in July, 2019

  • May 20th ---- For new comers starting courses in September, 2019

  • September 20th ---- For new comers starting courses in December, 2019

  • November 20th ---- For new comers starting courses in March, 2020

Hanban will complete the scholarship examination and verification and announce the results three months before the school entrance day specified.

 



V. POLICIES PERTAINING TO CHINESE BRIDGE AWARD WINNERS

Chinese Bridge winners who have been awarded the 2019 “Confucius Institute Scholarship Certificate” shall log into the scholarship website and submit application documents to relevant host institutions with CIS certificates. Should you have any question, please contact chinesebridge@hanban.org.




VI. OTHERS

1. Please contact JXUST about relevant cultivating plans and courses.

2. Applicants shall be familiar with the specific criteria and closing dates for registration, and follow specific procedures to submit necessary documents.

3. Degree students shall accept the annual assessment under the Annual Appraisal Procedures of Confucius Institute Scholarship.

4. Those who fail to register on time, fail to pass the health assessment, quit or suspend schooling will be deprived of scholarship.

Application Documents

1. For all applicants

  • A scanned copy of the passport page with your personal information

  • A scanned copy of score reports of the HSK and HSKK tests (within the two-year validity)

  • A recommendation letter by the head of the recommendation institutions

 

2. For degree scholarship program applicants

Provide a certification of the highest education diploma (or proof of expected graduation) and an official school transcript.

MTCSOL Students are required to provide 2 recommendation letters from professors or associate professors. Those who can provide a notarized employment agreement with teaching institutions are preferred.

 

3. In-service Chinese teachers shall submit certificate of employment and recommendation letters provided by institutes they work for.

 

4. Applicants under the age of 18 shall provide certified documents signed by their entrusted legal guardians in China.
