Chapter 14 Administrative Regulations Regarding the Purchase of Comprehensive Insurance by Foreign Students

In accordance with the Ministry of Education’s “Preliminary regulations requesting foreign students to purchase insurance at higher education institutes”, as well as formal requests by the Jiangxi provincial education division, in order to establish and refine the necessary mechanisms to deal with unforeseen events that may occur during foreign students’ study period in China, as well as protect the legal rights and interests of the foreign students, the following administrative regulations have been specially set:

1. Our school enforces foreign students to purchase obligatory accident insurance. All foreign students registered at our school must purchase accident insurance specifically for foreign students who come to China to study (hereinafter referred to as “insurance”). If an international health insurance plan has already been purchased abroad, please show proof of purchase and photocopies to the school staff when registering and applying for visa. If an acceptable insurance plan has already been purchased, it is not necessary to buy insurance in China.

2. The Chinese government has requested that the purchased insurance must provide comprehensive coverage for the resulting medical and hospitalization costs accrued at a public hospital in the event of an accidental injury. Every student must purchase this comprehensive insurance when registering at our school. The price of this insurance for one year is 800RMB (400RMB for six months). Foreign students must purchase this insurance at their own expense. Confucius Scholarship students will have their insurance purchased for them by the school at a designated institution assigned by China’s Hanban organization.

3. Foreign students can purchase insurance according to the duration of the visa they apply for.

4. Our school acting on behalf of the foreign students, has signed an agreement with the insurance company pertaining to the responsibilities towards foreign students studying in China. Students who purchase the school’s insurance plan will be assisted by the school in the event of a claim settlement. Students who purchase a separate insurance plan will have to settle any claims individually with the respective insurance company.

5. With regards to the insurance rates, validity period, details about responsibility clauses and other related content, the insurance company will provide detailed information when purchasing this insurance at our school.
